Hello All from sunny Australia,

A little about me...I've been fascinated with silver since my parents dragged me around antique shops as a child. I'm about to turn 50 and have acquired a few modest pieces of sterling ( primarily British )along the way.

The reason I'm here however, is to seek assistance in finding the whereabouts of any pieces of flatware made by London silversmith, Jeremiah Garfield. His makers marks are JG and J.G (both registered London 1813).

Mr Garfield didn't manage to ply his trade for too long however, as he was convicted of fraud in 1821 and transported to Australia as a convict. (He applied fraudulent makers marks to 12 spoons in an attempt to avoid paying duty).

I have had the good fortune to make the acquaintance of the great, great, great, I think one more great, granddaughter of Jeremiah living in Australia. Her name is Anne Wiltshire and she has spent many years searching in Australia for anything made by him. To date none of her family have ever seen a piece of his work.

So I am asking fellow silver lovers...
Kind Regards,
Steve
