Does anyone have a recommendation on where I might be able to obtain further information on a set of ships created by Wolfgang Schroth called "Silver at Sea"? They are three highly detailed ships, the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria, created in the 1990's. I purchased them in the 2000's through Sotheby's but I cannot locate much information on them. Any ideas? Thanks! ------------------ IP: Logged |

Sorry. I'm a newbie (duh) and only have an interest in sterling silver as an investor. I have several pieces but tend to buy based on the art of it as opposed to the value if the item. I'm just posting to get information from learned individuals about where the best source of information might be about various pieces I own. Not to sell, per se, but to gather additional information about them. Thanks! IP: Logged |

Could you please post a couple of photos of your ships and the markings on them? It is so very hard to say much without photos, and it is part of the way this forum operates - to educate and provide enjoyment to everyone who loves silver to be able to see what someone is describing. I am not an expert on these and perhaps someone who knows more than I do might add something. Schroth's is a jewlery store/silver and gold smithing in Montville, New Jersey that was started in the mid-1960s. Their website includes a silver ship which is a model of the Constitution (with a price that I find difficult to reconcile but that is just me). It sounds to me like your set of Columbus's ships may be a part of this series of theirs. To confirm this and get details I would recommend that you contact them directly. IP: Logged |
