I'm not an expert on silver, but have an intermediate level of knowledge of 19th century American coin silver. However, I really have no knowledge of British silver, so I would like to request some help in identifying a Walker and Hall mark on a silver tray.

The mark on the back of the tray has W&H in a rectangle with concave sides. Next to this is a crown, then a lion ramapant, then a capital S in a shield-shaped punch. The front of the tray has a hall mark consisting of a pennant with W&H, the number 53683, and Walker & Hall Sheffield.

Looks and feels late 19th century and looks like the mark for 1885, but I'm not sure. I would appreciate any assistance with this. Thank you.

I want to be learn as much as I can, so I would appreciate any info you could provide. Thank you.

It would be helpful to have some pictures.

Based on your description, lacking a monarch's head and a shield shape cartouche, the marks would indicate Sheffield, 1960, not 1885. An image would settle the question in a second.
