There is a first time for everything and this is one of them! My interested has arisen from curiosity about my Estonian grandfather and searching your site has opened my eyes. I understand he was an engraver. I was interested in the engraved Russian cigarette cases with signatures and little icons - mushrooms, ladybirds and elephants. Was this typical of a certain period? What did they mean? Elephants seem to reoccur several times...curious for such a cold country! Thank you in anticipation ps have more but need to understand how to add the photos...another night IP: Logged |

Without clear closeup photos of the details and the overall objects it is not possible to say very much with any confidence. Please read the yellow box above - it has a link to take you to detailed, step by step instructions on adding photos. Also, could you please add a bit to your introduction about whether you are planning to sell these things or if you are only wanting to know more about them? Thanks, Kimo, IP: Logged |
