Hello, I'm a new member writing about a silversmith mark that I don't recognize. I've looked on previous posts and several online resources, but still don't see it. Most of the silver I have is from the Boston area and I've found makers such as P. Stacy, Daniel Hempstead, Theophilus Bradbury and J. Holden, but this one stumps me. I will try to upload a photo, but I thought I would post this first. The object is a small grater that opens - a nutmeg grater? The back, bottom and opening top are sterling silver - the grater part is some other metal and pretty discolored. The silversmith marks are on the back and inside the lid. They are as follows: Initials TP on top of initials IP. Then a rampant lion facing left and then the small initial b. If anyone could help with this, I'd appreciate it so much. I'm pleased to join this group and hope I can help someone else someday.
Please read the yellow box at the start of this page and respond with the requested introduction/background. Thanks.] IP: Logged |
