Hi, all: (I haven't been around for a year or two and and glad to see that the forum is alive and well). I still do not consider myself a collector but keep buying some pieces that catch my eye to wear and enjoy. I have a question: Could you please let me know in which country was my silver and amber necklace made? I enjoy it a lot but I'd like to research how old it is and possibly find who made it. I looked over Russian, Latvian, Finnish hallmarks and a couple of other countries but so far no luck. IP: Logged |

O.K, seeing my own enlarged photos really helped, I was able to identify the marks as Polish, G probably stands for a city like Gdansk, now on to figuring out the place and the age.. IP: Logged |

Hello to you, sure you're right, enlarged photos will help. Always it's good to see corrections of mr.S.Martin. Formely he helped me a lot with wrong sended photos (sizes) and made good corrections. Sometimes I copy a photo, into a negative picture and sometimes it will help too. I try to find out some idea's about your marks. I only have one book about marks. The only idea about the period is that perhaps in Poland (also ????) the silver percentage was indicated with standard a (lot)figure.Instead of a lot number the .../1000 silver percentage was stamped. Like 800. I don't know if this also happened in Poland, in other countries it started around 1880. So your item is after the 1880's. Greetings Silverhunter IP: Logged |
