Good morning from Central Texas! My wife and I have recently, within the past year or so, begun collecting antique silver plate. We've collected quite a few beautiful pieces and are now in the process of trying to find out some history of them. I'm recently retired for the 2nd time, the first was in 1990 when I retired after 22yrs in the army, the 2nd was this past June when I retired from my job at Ft. Hood, Tx after 23yrs. Been married to the same woman for going on 43yrs now. Other than collecting antiques my other hobbies are collecting stamps and reading. Looking forward to interacting with you great folks here. Welcome to the Silver Salon Forums. I know we would like to see some photos of your collection. When you post images please note that they need to be no wider than 640 pixels wide. I've seen your photo of a Meridan mark: The 1961 is most likely the part/model number. Meridan part/model numbers were not always unique and often can only be evaluated when looking at the object/object's style. Therefore, seeing what the mark is on could be helpful. Thank you very much Scott, that looks like the set. Sure wish we had the rest of it. Where did you find that catalog page? I'll post some of our other sets here on the forums if I can post in the silver plate forum. I couldn't the other day for some reason. IP: Logged |

I thought I'd already posted a reply, possibly not. Thank you for the information, that looks almost exactly like the pieces we have. I sure wish we had the complete set. We're learning so much daily I almost need to start saving each post. At least now we know what to look for and that quadruple plate is pretty old. Thanks again IP: Logged |

Scott, until I cleared the browser cache and refreshed the page I could not see yours or my replies to the catalog page you posted to me. I'll have to remember that for future reference. Chris IP: Logged |

I see that you are in the CenTex area. I went to Temple HS, and my grandparents both retired out of Ft. Hood, and lived in Copperas Cove. Small world. IP: Logged |

It sure is, I run across people on forums all the time who either do live in the area or did at one time. On one of my glass forums there is a lady who lives in Killeen. I retired at Ft. Hood from the army in 1990 and worked out there since then until this June when I retired again from General Dynamics. IP: Logged |
