Hello All... I recently discovered a silver piece that has been passed down from generations (probably 4-6 generations). I do not know what the piece would be called. It has a springload clasp, clear jewel prism with a red and blue dot, numerous chains, teardrops, and silver balls. It has been told that it was given to a grandfather from a King as he was granted into Knighthood. The piece is in wonderful condition and is stamped with what appears to be "Garanite". Does anyone recognize this marking? is it common? a city? There is one other marking as well. This could have been from the Scotland, Ireland area. Thanks for any insight as I begin to research this piece.

Will follow up with a photo this weekend. Family name Thomson although the pouch that this was found in is stamped "Sir. Thomas" (name change?). I am hoping to find the Kings name or era from which it came. [This message has been edited by oldthomason (edited 10-18-2013).] IP: Logged |
