Hi my name is Yvonne. My husband and I are both recently retired teachers. My husband is a dobro player and enjoys writing. I enjoy collecting odd things. I absolutely love silver, especially silver jewelry. Recently, we purchased a James R Reed Silver spoon with a curved handle, which I am adding to my collection. My husband and I disagree over the purpose of the spoon. He is adamant that it is a baby spoon. I believe it is some kind of odd spoon for administering medicine. Can someone help us put this argument to rest? I have attached a photo. Thank you to all who respond I'm advance. Don't see a place where I can post a picture, so I will try my best to describe. The spoon handle is completely rounded. There is a small opening where the two ends of the handle meet. The spoon itself (part you insert in your mouth) sits right on top of the circular handle. The spoon is an oval shape.it is more pointed on one side. Inside the circular handle it appears the spoon has a monogram. Looks like the initial Y C. I especially love this spoon because my first name begins with the letter Y. Thanks again

Hi Yvonne. Many thanks for introducing yourself and welcome to the forum. It is going to be difficult to say much without nice clear photos of the spoon and the markings. There are some step by step instructions on how to post photos here if you look at the big yellow box near the top of the page and click on the link on how to post photos. Please give it a try and if you get stuck just let us know and we will try to help.

From your very brief description a baby spoon is certainly a possibility, as is an invalid spoon or perhaps something else.

regards,
Kimo
