I recently inherited 2 very small silver and blue enamel stylized fish salt and pepper shakers. Mum didn't know where they came from so I'm throwing myself at the forum's mercy. As a first time poster, I thank you all for your tolerance in advance at the gaffs to come. Their tails come off to allow for filling. They have the marks on the very bottom edge of 925SNM preceded by what looks a bit like a lidded coffee pot on small dots. I don't want to sell them and will pass them down to my lot but am keen to identify a maker and any other info that may help fill the void. They look a bit funky for want of a better word. Appreciate your collective thoughts and guidance. Regards IP: Logged |

As suggested, pictures would be required for a firm identification - but they sound very much like mid 20th century shakers by Norwegian maker J. Tostrup, with their 'tankard' mark. If the ones I'm thinking of, they're cute little rotund critters, came in a number of different colorways... ~Cheryl IP: Logged |

Thankyou all. It does sound as though they are from Rostrup with the "tankard" stamp. They are little rotund chaps. I wonder when they were made. I'm still wrestling with the image upload caper. Apologies for that as I'm sure it would have aided sleuthing considerably. Thanks again IP: Logged |

In the yellow box above, item 4 explains step by step on how to post photos. Have you given this a try and if so if you can let us know where you seem to be going astray we can help walk you through it. IP: Logged |
