Introducing myself to SSF:

While attending the Miami Beach show this past week, I was encourage by several dealers to join the SSF....so here I am!!

For the stats, my wife and I are 51 and 52 years of age respectively.

My (our) collecting is generally broad- 19th and 20th century holloware with a heavy focus on repousse patterns, American figural flatware (19th century) as well as any decorative item that my eye directs me to.

We contracted the antique bug through my mother, clinical signs began about 25 years ago. We originally focused on porcelain and art glass, while silver has dominated the past 8 to 10 years.

As a new poster on this forum, I am posting a picture as requested. No specific questions.....just sharing a sample what we enjoy collecting.

The water urn pictured was retailed by J E Caldwell attributed to Peter Krider, c1870. We purchased this urn from a well respected dealer in Missouri a few years back.

That's about it in a nutshell!! Thanks for the invite!!

Polly and Scott- thanks for the warm welcome!

Scott- we were at the show on Thursday and Friday. We met soo many people and of course had many long chats with dealers we traded with in the past. We were introduced to a couple of folks with Silver Magazine....about the time were chatting with a dealer from Baltimore (about repoussse silver of course!!).

Polly- Ok...since you asked!! Pictured is a six piece coin silver tea set by Edward Lownes, Philadelphia c1820. This puppy is encroaching on its 200th birthday!!

Happy soon-to-be birthday to a lovely tea set! Do you have any close-ups of the finials? Are they birds?

Welcome to the forum. We lived in Missouri for some time and always had a great time looking for antiques there.

Hi and let me add my welcome to this great forum as well. I very much like your silver - they are beautiful examples, especially the Caldwell urn. Do you use them from time to time? They were made to be used and it is fun to do so.

Thanks to all for the warm welcome!!

Kimo- Aside from wine goblets, we have not actually used the holloware much......but the hot water urn is tempting. I will confess that we did use our flatware twice through he holidays.

I love those birds! Also the animal spouts and handles. That was a great period for teapots.
