Looks like a Sheridan platter, but not marked as one. This question probably has been on here before, does anyone know the maker of these platters. IP: Logged |

Welcome jelange64, I don't know if there is a reference book or website that would have S-L-S makers listed and I doubt very few would know off the top of their heads. With that said its usual here to give a bit of your interest and maybe a why your curious or what history you know? Most here collect, research and or buy and sell sterling or coin silver. We do not talk about prices nor really care but if it's history or knowledge then we get excited. You mentioned Sheridan, which in my ignorance I associate with furniture. In silver my guess for that style would be Empire. I hope someone else jumps in and maybe I will learn something too? IP: Logged |

I have two books and it's not listed in either of them. Fairly new here and did a search on the web and can't find any information either. There appears to be a ton of SLS for sale which got me to thinking that it might be made in China. I went to a leading global trading site (the one that is related to his 40 thieves) and if you enter "silver plated tray" into the search box you will come up with dozens of suppliers for trays -- some which look very similar. If I had to guess that would be my conclusion - but it could be totally incorrect. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable here has a definitive answer. IP: Logged |

Thank you for the replies. I am not a real collector. Only came into some pieces due to wife finding them at Goodwill and estate dissolution. With my limited searching I was able to find the makers of some of her other pieces (late 1800's, early 1900's) but not this. I will keep searching and if anyone knows where I might find these in reference, please let me know. Thank you [This message has been edited by jelange64 (edited 01-03-2017).] IP: Logged |
