I recently acquired a late 17thC/early 18th C silver-gilt dognose sweetmeat spoon/teaspoon? c. 1695 - 1700. It has a maker's mark only coronet above)but it looks to have been misstruck so it's difficult to make out. I'm thinking "PR" or "PB". Any thoughts on the initials or a possible maker? Knowing would make dating a bit more concrete. "PB" makes it a highly unlikely "Britannia standard" maker's mark, dating it therefore pre-1697. Any thoughts? IP: Logged |

I think the background on the "B" could be a background for an "R". Any chance you might post a larger clearer photo? IP: Logged |
