Hello everybody. I probably didn't start collecting sterling flatware until about 5 years ago. My interest came from my ex job where I worked for a metal refinery. I would see tons of flatware that come through and they were all so different and plentiful in designs. I currently just collect, trying to build a nice collection of odd and rare patterns. I find most pieces through estate sales and [on-line auction] (if you could believe that). I joined the forum to get some help, occasionally, on items I have a hard time tracking down and I am also more than willing to help anybody who needs it. I do have a question regarding this particular piece if anybody an help.

I was doing some sterling picking and came across this piece. Can anybody help identify the setting size and pattern? Looks to be two turkeys or peacocks.

Could you please take a moment and click on the link in the big green box that is at the top of every page - the link that says "To successfully join in, you must know the following!" and read through the instructions there. In particular could you please add to your question a response to the part that says:

"In your first post:
1.Please introduce yourself
• Tell everyone about yourself, your interests in silver,
• And why you are posting - are you a collector, are you learning more about your inheritance from your granny so you will have more appreciation as you use it, are you looking to sell the object at some point in the near future, etc. For example, you mention that you are a picker - are you planning to sell this at some point?
- We're not being snoopy; knowing will help us help you and to welcome you to our small community.

2.Post a picture
• It's not hard and will go a long way to getting other members to respond.
• Everything you need to know can be found in How to Post Photos (click here).
• If you can't take a photo, try a drawing."

Good clear photos of the overall pieces of silver and also any markings on it are an absolute must since there are sop many different markings on silver and many have similar looks to them. In your photos I am not sure I can see any details as to any markings - could you please try to take a nice sharp close up of the markings and add them to your posting? Tiffany is among the most heavily forged marking - I am not saying this is such, but sharp close ups would be helpful.

Thanks,
Kimo

Thanks for the reply. This could possibly be fake, looking at the stamp because mine doesn't have a border around the hallmark like most Tiffany. I couldn't find anything on this particular place sizing.

Without seeing it in hand, I cannot say for certain, but seeing the picture, this item does not look like a genuine Tiffany product. It seems cruder than their usual product which is usually quite refined.

I agree with Ashland that this scoop seems to be rather crudely formed and as such is not like the fineness one expects to see on Tiffany items. Perhaps the T & Co might be some other company that starts with the letter T ?

Could it be a recast of a genuine piece? That might explain why it looks too crude for Tiffany.
