I have a fork that is stamped with three symbols in an elongated oval: A Crescent Moon, A Three pointed Crown and what looks like an 'o'. Followed by, in the same connected stamp is the word', FAIRFIELD. I'm wondering if this is Sterling or plate and what country it is from? Any ideas? Thank you. Bob IP: Logged |

I cannot remember why I think this, but I believe that mark belonged to one of the many Rodgers companies. I think Rodgers exclusively made silver plate and Fairfield was one of Rodgers pattern names. IP: Logged |

Davis & Diebel notes, "The owner of this backstamp is unknown", but my late friend Pat (2209patrick) found the pictorial trademark in a Canadian silver reference as belonging to "Wm. Rogers Mfg. Co. Limited". Some patterns bearing their mark were also produced with the Rogers, Lunt & Bowlen's 'Franklin Silver Plate' mark, as well as marks from Wm. Rogers, Rogers Cutlery, and a few other trade names. ~Cheryl IP: Logged |
