My first post. I collect matchbook holders, a 20th century version of the match safe. A matchbook holder would hold a paper matchbook, rather than loose stick matches. This mark is on some matchbook holders in my collection and on a sterling cigarette case I have seen. It is identified on silvercollection.it as Schira Brothers, but I believe, for several reasons, that is incorrect. Please help me identify this mark. IP: Logged |

Welcome. Good job posting photos. Don't know about the mark. What does your research reveal? We don't have many match books posted. I am sure everyone who visits the SSF would love it if you share some photos of your collection. IP: Logged |

None of my books have that mark so I am not much help. I did do a search of Schira Brothers and noticed they were from Cincinnati. It may not be much help, but you might write the Art Museum or the Historical Society of Cincinnati to see if the Schira Brothers ever used that mark. I do have the book on Cincinnati Silver 1788-1940 and Schira is not listed as being there during that time period. IP: Logged |

My research went through a lot of S B possibilities - Saart Bros. (bad guess); Schless, Brod (they mention "match-boxes" in their trademark registration); and Schira Bros (probably a little too late for higher end matchbook holders). None of the published trademarks looks right - maybe mine is just a variation that never got published. IP: Logged |
