![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Hello all! I'm based in the NW corner of the USA. I got hooked on antiques (after growing up a history nerd in general) thanks to my grandmother and great-grandmother's joint collection of silverware and silver tableware. I was researching their origins to sell them, which backfired drastically as I wound up unable to part after the research was done. Nowadays, I freelance as a historical research writer-which has given me the opportunity to learn even more and find some gaps along the way. I'm excited to be here to meet people & exchange information ![]() IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm new too, but welcome just the same. Like you: history nerd (was my college major), hooked on antiques since the 1970s, have a collection from a grandmother. Like you, can't bear to part with any of it. --Bolster IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Welcome Whimz! I was bitten by the antiques and researching them bug in a somewhat similar way - after she retired my mom took up being an antique dealer as a hobby and at that time I was a young teen. She bribed me into helping her by giving me small interesting curios in exchange for doing the bulk of the work in going to antique shows (carry/set up/sell/take down/pack/carry home) and then after learning how to restore things, doing that for her. It was a nice way to spend time with her, being helpful, and learning all at the same time. Then I went off to get some University degrees and got on with my career but I always have kept the antiques interest as a fun hobby. When you say you live in the Northwest corner of the US, do you mean northwest Alaska or Washington State? I do not recall having noticed anyone from Alaska here on this sie. IP: Logged |
