I have a sterling teaspoon, marked TW Brown & Sons, pat’d 1881. I know that T W Brown was a silversmith around 1823-1850, when he went Into partnership with Wm Anderson until 1871, and then died in 1871. Did any of T W Brown’s sons continue their dad’s silversmithing business after their father’s death? Or is this a different TW Brown? IP: Logged |

His son Louis Strite Fellows Brown and step-son Edward F. Story continued the business as BROWN & SONS after his death. Both are listed as bookkeepers in the 1880 census, living in the home of (Mrs) T. W. Brown. I suspect that she was the principle owner of the business, retaining her late husband's name.
