Is Lauriston actually named? His elder brother William is given as the partner of record in city and family histories. Lauriston trained under William and worked for the firm (and continued when it became GREENE & MAURAN in 1854), but left in 1860 to take charge of the family farm following the death of his brother George. Your facts are in line with everything I have seen. William C Greene is the named member of the firm and L H Greene is listed as a jeweller at the firm's address in the 1853-4 Providence Directory. You've updated Lauriston H Greene to coincide with this information now I see. [This message has been edited by bascall (edited 10-20-2009).] IP: Logged |

Every once in a while a little of exchange of credit where credit is due doesn't seem too out of line to me. Thanks paying attention to my posts. IP: Logged |

Actually, I got there while looking at John Tyler Mauran -- sometimes great minds think alike (or at least at the same time), so take my thanks in general. [This message has been edited by wev (edited 10-20-2009).] IP: Logged |
