Washington Burr is listed in the 1860 U S Federal Census for Carbondale, Pennsylania as a jeweller. There are also two watchmakers in Washington's household at this time, Richard P Everson and Truman D Bradley.

Truman D Bradley's Civil War Records also show that he was a watchmaker.

Richard P Everson is listed in 1870 U S Federal Census's for Carbondale, Pennsylvania as a jeweler.

In the 1880 U S Federal Census for Carbondale, New York, Washington's son Frank E is listed as a jewelry store clerk.

In the 1890 Carbondale Directory, Washington and Frank E Burr are listed at 35 N Main as W Burr & Son, jewelers.
