[26-1680] After Clearing away a very full attic, I have come across a Silver drinks measure with the writing, oftus, ondon. The first letters have been worn away. We have been told that it could say Crofts of London. On the bottom of the measure are 4 squares of the hallmark, but they too are faded and we cannot read the hallmark at all, however either above or below the hallmark is either a 6 or a 9, pending on whether the hallmark is below the no. or above. Can someone help me if? Is this worth anything or is it a car boot item?

Hello firlouise, like they always say : first read the headlines. Try to send a photo from the silver object because with or without a clear mark/s, the pattern/shape it can be recognized or placed into a time period. The first try (topic) from my side I also had a request without a photo, most of us started like that.Like you told the marks are hardly to see, you also can make a drawing of the one's you see/recognize and make a sharp photo of the drawing. Values are never been given at this forum, when you like the object it's valued enough. If you want to sell it, I think you will know the prices at car boots. Even you can look at auction programs in England or visit one, like there are a few. So I hope you can send a photo and perhaps you can inform about what kind of silver items you collect. A lot of succes, Silverhunter. IP: Logged |
