We have recently inherited a set of cutlery marked EMDS EP. The EMD and EP are fairly simple block letters and the S is in fancy script. They are all inset, the EMDS in separate squares with cutoff corners, the EP is in an oval perpendicular to the others. I'm assuming EP stands for electroplate. The cutlery has been in the family forever and I am sure is not worth anything but I would like to know the history. On the front of the cutlery is the letter P which I believe represents my great grandfather's surname - Phillips - so assume maybe he had them especially made for him!! Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. Back in May 2003 JBree asked the same questions (EMDS EP--Unknown manufacturer, help?) - comments were interesting but I wonder if six years later there might be some more information. Many thanks Colin Edwards IP: Logged |
