I am looking for a jewelry designer to custom make a man's ring, preferably in silver, white gold, or platinum, or titanium, size 9. I have no specific design in mind, but I want a ring that really shows off the stone.

Also, I want a ring in which I can change the stone at will. I plan to purchase several, up to two dozen different gem stones. (You can see the size and shape of the stones that I will purchase for my ring at wirejewelry.com) I am purchasing two of each type stone in order to have one made into a tie pin and the other for the ring I am commissioning. In the end, I will essentially have a ring and tie pin set.

In order to accomplish this I need to be able to alternate the stone in the ring. I have thought this out, and I am not sure how such a ring could be designed. I have two possible ideas:

1: Install two small clips under the bezel on the inside? Rather like a miniature money clip on the inside where it wouldn't be noticeable from the outside. This clip (or clips) would hold the stone in place and make it easy to change the stone at will to match the accompanying tie pin.

2: Use a small hard rubber or hard plastic washer on the inside of the bezel that would snap in place to whole the stone up flush against the inside of the metal setting. The setting could have a ribbed edge to facilitate this, perhaps with two, three, or four "prongs" on the inside of the bezel against which I would snap the "retainer" and secure the stone in place.

Since all of the stones come in the same standard sizes, I could easily alternate the stones, as I said to match the same stone in my tie pin.

I understand that if you undertake this job, you will want a deposit. I could also purchase the stones that I want ahead of time, two of each, and mail a few to you in order for you to have an idea of the stones for which you will be designing the ring.

You can contact me via e-mail at nledu@msn.com.

If it would be easier for you to discuss this over the telephone, let me know your number and the time that is best for you and I will call.

If this is not the type of a job you are interested in, I would greatly appreciate your recommendation of another custom designer or posting this request on other sites.

Important: Please respond to my e-mail directly. I do not freqent this site.

Thank you,
