What exactly is a champagne plunger? Do you have a photo of one? You've piqued my curiosity ..... IP: Logged |

I was hoping to find one before someone asked so I could post it as a Whatzit. I think it might take some time before I stumble upon one. So here is a catalog photo: IP: Logged |

Sorry to spoil the fun! I'd certainly not have known what that was. But then, I usually open my Champagne bottles with a War of 1812 cavalry sabre. IP: Logged |

As it would happen, yesterday we saw a Champagne Faucet and we didn't buy it. It was different than the one pictured here. It was in a case of continental silver offered by one of those "fancy dealers". It was brass and one piece. The faucet was 90 degrees to the shaft. The shaft was long enough to reach the bottom of a magnum. The faucet had a wooden handle. How you would insert the shaft through a champagne cork without clogging the end of the shaft with cork wasn't apparent. As it was, they had a champagne cork with a hole all the way through the cork and the tip of the shaft was inserted but the shaft fit too tightly to move the cork on or off. IP: Logged |

Scott, I gave mine away to a wine distributer friend of mine years ago. I remember we had it in the family and never used it once. I used to play with it as a kid and liked the valve mechanism. As I recall it was chrome plated and in mint condition (not surprising since it was never used). Fred IP: Logged |
