I have a soft spot for female silversmiths. Well, not them personally, but their products. Given the same predilection for female silversmiths on behalf of many perhaps better-heeled collectors, I'm not confident that I can best their "market" bids. But I suppose it can't hurt to put up a lightning rod here. So far I have obtained (all flatware): Mary Ashworth Have not tried for Hester, lots available, but generally overpriced. Anyway, let's give it a try, maybe trade? Thanks!!! 1/18/05 edit: Added Hannah Walker, obtained via response to this notice. Lightning struck! Also let out some of the verbose air in original post. "H.C.ROBINSON" (Hannah? Probably not.) Then why bother with HC? Hannah Robinson marked pieces are not terribly expensive (Bateman as a standard), just make sure you buy incised, not incused. IP: Logged |

I am sure that you already have it, but "Women Silversmiths 1685-1845" by Glanville and Goldsorough is an interesting book. IP: Logged |

Yep, got it, ahwt, nice book. Just lost out on an Anne Hill spoon on eBay, went for a good thirty percent above my bid. As I feared, interest is picking up in this area. Someday I may like something where I'm not last to the table! IP: Logged |
