Mudcreektraders Posts: 2 Registered: Mar 2021	posted 11-12-2021 12:55 PM Looking for a silver testing solution simply called Solution B that turns sterling robins egg blue when scratched and solution is applied. It came in a test kit and I can't find it anywhere. An idea as to what chemical it is or where I can find it? I find current solutions in test kits difficult to read. IP: Logged
Paul Lemieux Posts: 1792 Registered: Apr 2000	posted 11-15-2021 06:52 AM I have never heard of "Solution B", but 18K gold testing acid turns a light opaque blue on sterling. So I assume "Solution B" is just somebody's marketing ploy for ordinary 18K acid. I can't tell from your question if you are scratching a mark onto the silver itself or not. It is less damaging to rub the silver piece on a touchstone and test the rubbing than to file/scratch the silver piece itself. IP: Logged
