[06-0106] In a recent posting one of the moderators suggested posting things here before scrapping them (I can't find the thread again) so: I have a Portuguese platter made by Celestino da Mota Mesquita of Porto sometime between 1916 and 1937 (his mark is the C with a knot). I can't quite make out the stamped writing. It appears to be handmade. It measures approx 18 x 12", has some surface scratching as seen which isn't deep and one small dimple which doesn't photograph well. I'm asking scrap based on the following formula: Weight is approx 38 oz. avois which converts to 34.6 troy or 1077 grams. Spot as of today is $18.15 times 1077 grams = $624 minus 20% since the tray is second standard of .833 which comes out to $500 for the tray plus postage and insurance if desired. It's a handsome nicely made tray, but obviously not by a well known maker but of very good weight. I'll post this for about a week and a half before taking it in. Thanks. IP: Logged |
