HELLO candlesticks 15" tall with half moon crown 800. does anyone know the following maker marks? man facing left w/ point hat on his head letter Z thanks IP: Logged |

The only German company I can find using a mark like this was Meyen & Co. of Berlin; I have them listed in a German trade catalogue of 1924. Their mark was Hermes' (Mercury's) head facing left , wearing his winged cap (thus the points.) The "Z" puzzles me, but it could very well be merely a stock or model number. IP: Logged |

H. Meyen & Co., Berlin, was started in mid-19th century; since you show it as still active in 1924, it may well be one of the many that fell victim to the Nazis in the 30's. This is part of a logo, the only pictures of actual marks I have seen bear at most a very vague resemblance to it - they are more like smudges. IP: Logged |
