[07-0049] Hi All, I have a set of 12 silver demitasse spoons made by Alexander Kordes, circa 1880 to 1890. He supposedly received commissions from the Imperial Family. The only reference to him that I could find is in Paul L. Paulson's Guide to Russian Silver Hallmarks, 1976. Can anyone tell me anything else about this silversmith? Thanks IP: Logged |

I guess you might call this an imperial commission, It's the Order of St. Andrew, now in the Kremlin Museum, and has the marks of "Master Alexander Kordes and of the most famous St. Petersburg firm of medalists, Keibel." More compatible with your spoons, however, it this coffee set which appeared on a Russian stamp: The full set of these 1993 stamps celebrating Russian silver is illustrated
