Author | Topic: Danish Fish Set? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Hello there, I have recently obtained a Danish fish set with marks that are not consistent with those in Tardy's. The marks are clear in the photo except for the last one on the right, a three turreted castle with the number '66' beneath it. The handles of the set are stylized storks (or pelicans) and there are mythological creatures in the cut out blade of the knife. A third photo is of a partial label on the outside of the box. Maybe it provides some information. Any help would be appreciated. Additionally, I would appreciate any information on the 19th century Danish maker F. DAHL. Thanks for the help. Respectfully, Marc Cutcher IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() According to a site on the internet, this bowl is also by F. Dahl. They date it to 1867, which makes me think maybe your fish serving set is 1866 IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Hi Marc, The "SG" mark is for Danish assayer Simon Groth who held the office from 1863-1904, which fits in with the 1866 assay mark. Don't believe I've seen the other mark before, possibly a town mark. I know that Tardy doesn't show all the Danish marks. The label probably had a jewelers name above the other printing, which I believe would be for a court jeweler on Ostergade street (there was probably a number after "Ostergade") in Copenhagen; Georg Jensen is on that street in the shopping district. Sorry, don't have any info on F.Dahl, but the set is wonderful! Cheryl IP: Logged |
