I have come upon 3 pieces of silver that reportedly belonged to Empress Carlotta (Charlotte of Belguim). There is a monogram on each piece that is a stylized V with what appears to be an L over the left side of v and an backwards C on right. The mark on the base of eack piece is a heavily stippled rectangle about 1 1/2" long and 3/4" wide. They are wonderfully made but show some wear. The handles are leaves with an oak leaf at top and bottom of handles. A circle design encircles the top and base of the bowl. Any help is surely appreciated. I have tried to find monograms for this family but have had no luck. IP: Logged |

Any chance of some photos, the pieces, the mark and the monogram? If there is any conection with Empress Charlotta, the style of the pieces will have to correspond to her dates. Maybe they look Belgian or Mexican, although they could have been a gift from almost anywhere. In any case, photos may well help! IP: Logged |

The problem is that trying to recognize something either a monogram or a mark from a written description is very difficult. If you can find someone to take a digital picture, I am sure you will get lots of answers. IP: Logged |

Thank you for the responses on the Carlotta? pieces. I will get a digital and post it. I have lost the ones I had through a disk error. Juanita Weis IP: Logged |
