Hi there, I recently bought this silver milk/cream jug. I was told it was Austrian but I am not so sure. The marks to the bottom are a triangle with a "5" inside it along with some mountains on which stands an aerial type thing. There is also an "800" mark and the makers mark "M.V". It looks 18th century but I have no idea.

The triangular mark is Czechoslovakian, in used after 1929. Yuor piece is 80% pure silver, as indicated by the number "5". IP: Logged |

Hi there, Thanks for that. Have you any idea who the maker is? It suprises me that it is after 1929. The jug is of superb quality and the silver is quite thick. I have also discovered another triangle mark underneath the lip of the spout, the same as the one on the base. IP: Logged |

Hi again, I have now found out that the maker is Marek Vonchovský a Stein, Prague, Vinohrady 1921-1941. Thanks for all your help. IP: Logged |
