I bought this spoon in Munich. I was told it is either Austrian or German. As you can see, the Hallmark is not in great shape. I can barely make out "80" followed by what looks like an "H", but the rest is too warn. I am guessing German post 1888. I am hoping some one recognizes the pattern and has information on date, origin, etc. Thanks,

The crown & moon are definitely German, post 1888. The photo is very muddy, but I'm pretty sure that the maker's trademark here (a turkey) is that of Karl Kaltenbach & Söhne [Sons] of Altensteig. They were manufacturers of silver & flatware founded in 1870 and in business until at least the mid 1920s. I don't know the pattern name, but it looks like a typical "historical" style pattern that was popular in Germany ca. 1900. Hope this helps! IP: Logged |

It helps a great deal, especially since your eyes are better than mine. I did not recognize it as a turkey! Thanks, IP: Logged |
