![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I have a large set of Brazilian silver tableware marked "PRATA WOLFF 90" as well as INOX and a W in a circle with 90 under it. I suspect it is "coin silver" from the 90. Can anyone shed light on the manufacturer or the name of the pattern and age? Appreciate any comments. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Wolf appears to have been or maybe still is a major producer of silverware in Brazil. The '90' designation has been taken over from Europe and is used on silverplated items. 'INOX' means stainless steel. Hope that helps. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks to 'argentum" for his info.Isn't it peculiar to have "stainless" and "silver plate" as part of the same set. None of it really looks like stainless. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() You didn't say where the 'INOX' occurs. Stainless steel blades have been used routinely for the knives of both solid silver and plated sets for several decades. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Argentum, you are correct...the INOX is on the knife blade so that explains it.The pattern is "WF1" as I just found it on a replacement site indicating copyright (1998-2005); I thought it was much older. Thanks for your help. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() With the case apparently closed, I can only ask how is it that a Brazilian question finds the "Continental" forum? ![]() IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I placed it in "continental" because I saw other Brazilian questions there.Sorry if that bothered anyone. Wizard IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() To all respondents: Perhaps the case is not closed as yet. I just showed the pieces to a Brazilian national who says "prata" is 90% silver and that if this was silver palte it would have to indicate so on the utensils...i.e. wherever it says prata it is their equivqlent of sterling. Now I am real;ly confused. wizard IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I'd say that if you don't know whether to believe the answer you got here or that from the proverbial 'man on the street', then your best solution is to roll up your sleeves and do your own research - the internet is a wonderful tool for that purpose. IP: Logged |
