![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Does anyone recognize the French lozenge mark: A an image of a duck facing right D The A is a little unclear so it could be something else like a “tepee” or a triangle shape. I'm pretty sure its an A. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sounds like the mark of Alphonse Debain, a prolific Paris maker of the Belle Epoque and Art Nouveau eras. Active at 79, rue du Temple; mark registered 19 March 1883 and cancelled 8 March 1911. The fowl in question (if this is Debain's mark) would be not a duck but a woodcock (une becasse). IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks. It sure looks like a duck to me. I don't think I could identify a woodcock if I saw one. ![]() IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Well, that is definitely the mark of Monsieur Debain. It appears to be a slightly mushy strike, which may be why the beak of the fowl in question looks more duckbill-like than it ought. What kind of piece is the mark on? IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks. I still think it looks like a duck. To me the feet look webbed. But I yield to your familiarity with the maker. Its on a 950 spoon. I am very busy the next few days but I will try to post a photo ASAP. IP: Logged |
