need help with marks on fish slice stamped collar and blade first mark in sq box;anchor with cap A one side and f other side second mark; fig 8 thick at top and bottom any infor would be fantastic IP: Logged |

Your fish slice was made by the Orfévrerie Armand Frénais, located at 63 Bd. Richard-Lenoir, Paris. They were active in the late 19th century. From your description, your piece sounds as if it is silverplate. If it were silver, the maker's mark would be a diamond-shaped lozenge and there would be additional marks signifying the quality. In 1899 the company produced a 250 page catalogue, so they were obviously a major company - sadly I know nothing more. The few pieces I have seen are generally of high quality.
