Could anyone help me identifying the hallmarks on two uge decorative spoons. Size is 13 inches (the little one is a normal antique spoon given at birth, just to show the size) I have been told it is Austrian but I cannot trace the marks back to Austria. Thanks in advance. (all help about these spoons is very welcome)

Your spoons are German, and date from the first quarter of the 20th Century. The marks on them are pseudo-marks: i.e., fantasy marks applied by the manufacturer to enhance the "antique" appearance - they have no real significance. However, I am familiar enough with these myriad marks to identify the manufacturer of your spoons - with near certainty - as Ludwig Neresheimer & Co. of Hanau, Germany. The company was founded in 1890 and was in business at least until the 1970s. IP: Logged |
