I have a very simple bowl. Your site has helped me find the manufacturer (WMF) but I am trying to find more info on the bowl. It has a picture of a building (maybe a castle) on the side. It is a 4 section building. It is located to the top right of three letters which are all joined together so it is hard to tell what they are; maybe HPN, HRN or HPI. I don't think this is a maker's mark, maybe just an engraving for the owner or something? My interest is just general as I am interested in all things old. I love to buy them for every day use and I found this bowl in the thrift store for 25 cents. I bought it for my cat. Thanks in advance for any help you may give. IP: Logged |

It is only a guess, the letters maybe EPN for electro plated nickle... silver plate on nickle base metal. A photo or drawing will get a better chance of an answer. IP: Logged |

Initials marked on the side probably refer to the owner, possibly a hotel, restaurant or resort. To discover who it was is almost impossible unless you stumble across it by good fortune. What are the markings on the bottom? Hope your cat will appreciate the quality of its bowl! IP: Logged |

This may be a souvenir of some historic building. The initials could refer to that place. A picture would help, so we could figure out how it was done. Hand engraved would point one way, machine engraved another. Repousee still something else. What is the size of the bowl? Does it have handles, or maybe one handle? IP: Logged |
