Raf Steel Posts: 94 Registered: Jul 2005	posted 09-20-2005 12:53 PM [26-0672] In the series of 'strange but amusing': meet this makers mark (?) in the shape of a Venetian gondola. Under the mark stands "800". A second mark is a sort of a shield with a "b" in it. The marks stand on the underside of a handmade cream jug of the 1960's. My guess was it should be Italian, because of the gondola, but then again it doesn't bear the normal Italian marks. Has anyone a clue? I don't! (sorry for the picture quality) IP: Logged

Raf Steel Posts: 94 Registered: Jul 2005	posted 09-22-2005 12:16 PM I don't think it could be an oil lamp, because it doesn't have a base and the ends are typical of those venetian boats. I am also wondering why there are two markings: one (the gondola) seems to me the maker, because of the alloy is struck very near it, however the significance of the other mark remains a mystery to me.
