An friend of ours is interested in learning more about a 800/1000 silver tray she has had for many years. We were only able to tell her it was German, it had good weight and that it appears that the makers name is E. Staheli. Besides the German mark there was another mark which looked like an inverted candelabrum. We didn't have a camera with us so we couldn't photograph the marks (maybe next time we go to see them). Any ideas? IP: Logged |

Hi Scott! Don't know if this is of any help but I found an early silver maker J. Stahli in Zurich, Switzerland. Jersey IP: Logged |

Scott, if the name is written in full, hte chances are that it is the retailre, not the maker, the maker could be the inverted candelabra, but without pics it is difficult to tell. IP: Logged |

This is my recollection of what the mark looked like:

I think the manufacturer's mark is probably that of Koch & Bergfeld of Bremen (see this thread.(German Silver Teaspoons) with, as Raf Steel suggested, E. Staheli as the retailer. A history of Koch & Berfeld's marks can be found on their website. IP: Logged |
