Maybe this little bit could help. According to "The Little Book of Mexican Silver Trade and Hallmarks: Hecho en Mexico" by Bille Hougart, Pedro Castillo used eagle numbers 1, 2 and 3. "Pedro Castillo worked for William Spratling at Taller de Las Delicias in the 1930's and was with Hector Aguilar at Taller Borda beginning about 1939. At some point he also designed jewelry for Rafael Melendez. His work is usually numbered. Castillo started his own taller in the 1940s. IP: Logged |

Penny Morrill's Silver Masters of Mexico has some more information, including a 1995 photo of Don Pedro. Thereis some information also in her earlier Mexican Silver (with Carol Berk), but the later book has more. [This message has been edited by FWG (edited 01-14-2007).] IP: Logged |
