I have a set of sterling silver flatware that I am having great difficulty in learning about the maker's mark. The flatware is not hollowware and is 925 sterling silver. The items have a maker's mark similar to an I. On the handle of the flatware it is stamped sterling silver. I am aware that the flatware was made during or post WWII and in Germany or Russia. If anyone can help me or has seen this hallmark before, I would greatly appreciate a response. Thank you for any assistance that you may be able to give me. Bifto IP: Logged |

I too have a set of spoons marked "Sterling Silber" on the underside of the handle, and an "I" type symbol and "925" on the underside of the bowl. I suspect the "I" may in fact be the chalice mark of Koch & Bergfeld, a German company in business since 1829, although if so, I am surprised not to see the typical moon & crown marks. IP: Logged |
