What a great forum! I'm very glad to have found this site. It is wonderful. Moderators, thanks for your hard work. I have recenlty purchased some Mexican sterling holloware with a mark I cannot identify. It is marked "0.925 Luilla" in script. It also has the Eagle 1 stamp. Now, I found a Luella in one of my books but not Luilla. The script is very nice. Could this be a fake of Luella or does anyone know the maker Luilla? I'll try to find a third party site to host some photos if I need to. Thanks. Andrew IP: Logged |

Welcome to the forums, your enthusiasm has most likely been shared by a few new members, myself included! Have you done a serch in the forums (above on the right) and /or on the web? I know very little about Mexican silver but it would be very unusual, almost anywhere, to fake something unless there was a large monetary gain to be made. Thanks for the welcome. I never thought about the book being wrong. It is the Little Book of Mexican Silver by Bille Hougart. So far it has been a really good reference for me. I have searched this site and found no results either. A Google search of both spellings was fruitless too. I do hope someone can help. This is a very nice set of 12 chalices. IP: Logged |
