Hello this (maker's mark?) on a back cover of a Swiss pocket watch. It looks like L (an animal form?)F. Is there anybody knowledgeable about this mark? Many thanks,

Welcome to the forum. It would help if you could provide a close-up of the marks. Try taking a picture through a magnifying glass or scan in a drawing. The number may be a stock number, suggesting the item could have been mass produced and is perhaps silver plate rather than silver. We need to examine the marks more closely. Tom IP: Logged |

Could the blurry mark on the left above be the Austrian Diana mark for 800 silver? IP: Logged |

Is it possible that the letters are WMF and and the animal an Ostrich? If so, the mark may be that of Württembergische metallwarenfabrik used on their silver plate items. Tom [This message has been edited by tmockait (edited 06-06-2006).] IP: Logged |
