wenkent Posts: 8 Registered: Nov 2005	posted 08-25-2006 11:08 PM [26-1180] I have searched quite a big on Google, but can't find any info on the maker, or date of this Norwegian silver ladle. It is part of my grandmother's Norwegian silver items. Many of them I suspect she received as wedding gifts and she was married in 1916. This ladle I think dates to that time or earlier. The ladle is 12.5" long, the bowl is 3.75" wide by 1.5" deep and has a rolled edge. It is 830 silver content. The mark is S M, a square mark of some sort and then 830S. Under magnification, the square mark resembles that of J. Tostrup of Oslo, but with the impressed S M, that can't be it! Please see the photos below. Thank you! IP: Logged
Andy H Posts: 29 Registered: Aug 2006	posted 08-27-2006 11:50 AM Hi That mark looks almost certain to be the Tostrup mark. The impressed letters may refer to the silversmith that made it,or designed it. I am positive of it being by Tostrup. Andy IP: Logged
