I have a silver locket made in Greece. On the back of the piece it says "Made in Greece, 1000." What does the 1000 mean? I've looked on dozens of silver sites and nowhere does it list 1000 silver. Thanks to anyone who can provide information. IP: Logged |

Hello and welcome to the forum. My initial response would be to ask why you think the piece is silver. It may be silverplate or contain no silver at all, hence the difficulty in identifying the marks. It would very helpful if you could post photographs of the locket and of the marks. The style of the piece and details of the mark (e.g., what kind of crest or punch it is set in) can help us identify it. Also, part of the fun of the forum is seeing the photos. We also ask that you tell us a bit about your interest in silver in general and the information you requested in particular. Letting us know how you came by the piece sometimes provides clues as to who made it, when and where. Regards, IP: Logged |
