[26-1923]

This mark with A you can find in some books.

Rosenberg (R3 Bd1 Nr 65 + Nr 70 - this mark with an A) wrote that this marks are probably from Altenburg, or could have come from Annaberg. So far, however, not a single master will be assigned. Fairly certain is that these marks, probably from the region of Saxony or Saxony-Anhalt or Thuringia (Germany).

In addition to the letters A and G, we find these marks with other letters. They probably all come from the first half of the 19th C.

I hope to understand your question.

At first the mark with the letter combination sure looks like the mark of the city Altenburg.
When I see the difference between the silver stamp mark of silversmith CFF and other silversmiths in combination with the Altenburg mark the shape of the mark is different. Does that mean that the silversmith CFF can be earlier dated?
I also don't know in what period the 12 lot mark is used?
The mark with the letter G can be the neighbour (area) city Gera? The city arms are totaly different ofcourse.
Can you tell me why there are used a five figures with the line in the Altenburg mark and in the Gera(G) only 3 figures in combination with the line.
My thought perhaps it can a difference of leading ship by duke etc. I hope you understand my try out?
Are these stamps cold Hanau marks too?
Greetings Silverhunter, I've reacted at your topic after a (long) break of my side, missing the SMP forum.
Succes!

thank you for your answer,

this line is called "Rautenkranz" and is a part of the arms of Saxony

I think the A and G mark are wardenmarks of the beginnig of 19. Century in different time but the same town. But which town it is?

I not think, that it is the townmark of Altenburg.

there are some other Hallmarks with different letters . So I think the Letters are not the first Letter of the townname - I think it is a wardenletter.
some Letters in the Hallmarks:
A,E,G,K,L
Some makersmarks:

IA/P CL/E A/B IG/M H
?A/S FA/K CA/K CH/K
CF/S AF/B HG/B CFF CF/H FA/O

Now - I have a list of the masters from Altenburg & Gera. There is no match.
But it is almost sure - it is a town near the triangle Leipzig, Altenburg, Weissenfels.

The Problem is - there are no book about silversmithes from the region Saxony, Thuringia, Saxonx-Anhalt.
But it is in work.

I think I have the answer.
It is Weißenfels in Saxony-Anhalt.

In 1815 (Wiener Kongress) Weißenfels became a part of pruzzia. About from this time - Weißenfels had changed his hallmark to the "Rautenkranz" -hallmark.
