[01-0448] Hi All, I have 2 different Both a Large Size and with a lot of weight to them. Sterling I believe...The first is Marked Ercuis and another symbol..looks like a Man on a horse with the Letter O or 0 behind and the number 84 below. Etched '17 on the back of the handle. Very Symbol design. 8 inches long. The Other fork has the mark I believe of Minerva and is a high grade of silver and then a Triangle with the letters HS with a Sun above and a Star below. There is decoration on the back of the handle with a monogram. Slightly smaller in size and weight. Thank you Roger IP: Logged |

Both are French. The first is a modern silverplated fork by the well known French firm of Ercuis, founded in 1867 and still in existence today (www.ercuis.com). The "man on a horse" is the company's trademark of a centaur. The second is a solid-silver (.950, better than sterling) fork by a French manufacturer I don't recognize ("HS"). It dates from anytime between the late-19th century and the present. IP: Logged |
