I have inherited a set of six silver spoons which appears to be quite old. The spoons have only two identifiers: 1) a small arrow pointing from left to right in a box; 2)The name Argonid in a box immediately to the right of the arrow box. They are packaged in a rather nice box with a metal clasp. In trying to research these spoons, the only reference that I can find to Argonid is a royal house in Russia. IP: Logged |

The arrow was one of the logos of the German metalware & silverplate factory Gebrüder Noelle [Noelle Brothers] of Lüdenscheid. The company was founded in 1814, and the arrow was trademarked in 1889. “Argonid” was one of the many fanciful names they gave their various base metal alloys, and the name was trademarked in 1893. The company was still in business up into the 1930s, but I don't know if they survived WWII; many German manufactories did not. IP: Logged |
