I am new here and am an amateur at Silver collecting. I mostly collect coin silver items from the US and England. I also have a couple of pieces from other European countries. However, recently I purchased spoons from an online auction that were listed as being "coin silver spoons." Upon receiving them I was quite disappointed to see that they don't appear to be silver at all. They have a strange "patina" on them. Five of the spoons are marked MADE IN CANADA and below that they say 900 with a horizontal line underneath a WE and a W below the line. The sixth only has the number 90 underlined with "L&G" printed vertically below the line. Can anyone give me any info on this. I have no experience with Canadian Silver. These do no polish very well with silver polish and the ones marked Made in Canada are discolored in places but the discoloration does not appear to be the usual tarnish I am used to. They have a dull "base metal" type appearance. Thank you in advance for your help. beaglie IP: Logged |
